Review

Total Recorder 7.1 is a program to record sounds in your computer. By using it, you will be able to record in a file any sound that goes through your sound card. You will be able to record sounds from programs, an Internet streaming, your microphone, the CD/DVD player or any device you connected to your Line In jack, such as a TV set, a cassette recorder or a Hi-Fi system. You can configure the program to save the grabbed audio in a variety of formats and qualities. The recorded audio can be saved into PCM, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, WMA/WMV and FLAC formats. You will be able to set the channels, quality and frequency for each recording. If you have more than one audio card in your system, you can choose which one you would like the program to use. Total Recorder comes in three editions: Standard, Professional and Developer, each one with different capabilities and prices. This review is on the Standard edition, which is the most widely used. The evaluation copy of this program is fully functional, but will include a noise in all the recordings at every 60 seconds.
Advantages
  • It accurately records every sound that goes through your sound card.
Disadvantages
  • None.

A great program with really advanced options for scheduled recordings (auto-name files and auto-tag them), I love it!
Probably the best that's out there (I certainly don't know anything better for that task).
